Georgina Gannon

Originally from England, Georgina moved to Texas to attend law school because of her interest in the American criminal justice system and mass incarceration. During law school, she interned with the Harris County Public Defenders Office and at an Innocence Project in the Capital Murder Division, helping defend clients on death row. Georgina’s experiences in Texas confirmed to her that she wanted to dedicate her career to ensuring justice is upheld while ensuring clients are fully advised of their rights and how to assert them.

After graduation, Georgina was awarded a scholarship from UCLA Law to study a Master’s in Law. During her Master’s, Georgina published a legal article on the mental health effects solitary confinement has on incarcerated individuals and was awarded the Masin Family Academic Excellence Award. She graduated with a Master’s specializing in both Public Interest Law and Policy and International and Comparative Law.

Georgina is a licensed attorney in the State of California, the United States District Court for the Central District of California and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Prior to joining the Matian Firm, Georgina practiced immigration law. As an immigrant herself, she is very passionate about protecting immigrants in the criminal justice system and ensuring human rights for all are upheld.
